the story
On October 6th, 2023, I was in Israel and was planing to join a group of friends at the Nova Festival. At the time, I was still getting over jetlag and decided last minute it would probably be best not to go – this decision saved my life.
When I got back to New York, it became my mission to support the people who had survived the attacks of October 7th. I started baking challah as a way to raise money for Metiv, a world-reknowned psychotrauma center in Israel. With help from friends, we sold challah every Friday and were able to donate generously each week.
After months of baking, delivering and getting feedback from the community, I realized we were building something bigger than I intended. Â Our challah bake sales were encouraging people to do Shabbat and to reconnect with their roots simply because they had a challah on their table.
And so I was inspired to answer this one, simple question – how can we keep Jewish traditions alive in the modern home? And so, the idea for Braided, and our challah subscription, was born.
Thank you for being a part of this journey, we're so glad you're here.
